Weekend Update

Friday afternoon, hubby went to spend the night out of town to go hunting.  The sweet husband he is, he arranged for his Mom to come get the kids to spend the night at her house so I could have some “me” time.  I didn’t really do anything special with my “me” time, just enjoyed it.  I made a trip to Sam’s (SOOOOOO much easier without kids coming along) and browsed around Hobby Lobby for a little while.  After getting back home, I watched a movie (Eat, Pray, Love),  spent a little time on the computer, and enjoyed a glass (or two) of wine.  Here’s my “me” shot from Friday night.  I do not look at all pretty, but I’m relaxed and enjoying an evening by myself.  :)

Unfortunately, while I was enjoying an evening by myself, I was also getting sick.  I’ve talked about Sadie being sick with this neverending cough, and the older two (mostly Claire) have had runny noses and coughs; so I was bound to get it.  Mix in a little sinus pressure, and my Saturday was mostly spent in the bed feeling terrible.  So this picture is very representative of our Saturday.

Not every Sunday night, but it seems like a lot of them lately, we like to have family movie night.  We pop some popcorn (or “pah – coh” as Sadie calls it) and find a movie on one of the On Demand channels.  Last night we chose Alice in Wonderland.

I’ve been resisting getting this movie for a while.  It seems like I heard somewhere that parts of it were creepy, and I didn’t know how well the kids would handle it.  But they’ve been begging to see it, and we didn’t really find anything else we wanted to watch, so we watched it.  It was definitely very strange, and parts of it were a little creepy.  During the part in which Alice is running from the big bear-like creature just a short while after she arrives in “Underland”, Sadie was pointing to the TV saying “Wook, Momma, big monsta!”  But she seemed fine, not too scared.  We all ended up really enjoying the movie, especially the futterwacken dancing:

Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did (we had to rewind a few times to see it again and again!)!

Well, Sadie and I are off to the pediatrician for a follow-up and then to the grocery store.  Have a great day!

P365 – Days 25, 26, and 27

Hello!  I know it’s been a couple of days since I uploaded and posted.

Here are the pics!

Day 25 – Sadie loves trying on my shoes, her sister’s purses and Bubba’s caps!  She thinks she’s so cute….and, well, she really is!

Day 26 – Whew!  Sadie seemed to be especially fussy today, and the older two were running around like crazies.  So hubby and I scrambled to find a last-minute babysitter and had an impromptu date night.  So needed and so fun!  This was a great movie!

Day 27 – Because we had a date night the previous night, we watched Idol from DVR tonight.  We have to be careful with this (click here to see why), but we usually let the kids watch a little bit too.  They like to comment to each other and then ask us whether the contestant sings well or not!  And Claire, my precious little sensitive-hearted girl, really gets emotional when the contestants have emotional stories.  Sweet thing, I saw her wiping her eyes at some point, although she wouldn’t admit to me that she shed a few tears.  Here’s a pic of Wes in his favorite Idol-watching spot (yes, I promise we do allow our children on the furniture, but they like to be on the floor in front of the TV!)…

Well, I’m off to clean the house despite this head cold or sinus crud that I woke up with this morning.  Thinking of putting Sadie down for an early nap so I can do it a little easier…we’ll see.

P365 Update

Just wanted to mostly do a P365 update today.

Here is my Week 3 summary LO:

(If you’d like to see credits for this page, please visit my Sweet Shoppe Designs gallery here.)

Here are photos from the last few days.  Can’t believe I’m already on Week 4!!

Day 22:

Wes just relaxing at the lake.  He had a friend spend the night with us at the lake the night before.  I had plans to get some photos of them playing together for this day’s P365.  However, his friend got really sick that Saturday morning and had to go home.  Poor little guy.  Having stomach sickness is never fun anyway, but when you’re only 7 and you’re not at your own house or with your own Mommy, it has to be worse!  Wes was sad his friend had to leave early, but he had a good time with his while he was here.  And we were happy to learn that after resting at home, he was not sick any more the rest of the weekend.

Day 23:

Yes, my children had Fruit Loops (well, more specifically, the generic Tootie Fruities brand) for dinner this night.  Don’t think we’ll be getting any Parent of Year awards in this family!  :)

Day 24:

LOVE LOVE LOVE this show!  Last night’s episode was really good too!  If you’re not watching it, I highly recommend it.  Great mystery plot, detective work, and a lot of wit and humor, plus some great chemistry between the characters.

Oh, I also made my little date thingy white for this photo.  I’ve had some darker photos that I considered doing it for before, but I was too lazy to worry with it.  However you would not have seen any date on this photo if I hadn’t changed it to white.

Well, that’s it for now.  Have a great Tuesday!

20 and 21

Just a quick post.  The kids are finishing watching a movie (Despicable Me) that they started in the car earlier.  So I’ll update P365 super fast.

Yesterday was the 100th day of school.  There were lots of activities to celebrate this special day, and the kids both had to create “100 Day” projects.

Claire could choose whatever she wanted to do, just had to be 100 of something displayed somewhat creatively.  I helped her with it, and she made a heart shape with Valentine’s conversation hearts on a posterboard.  It was very cute.

Wes’ assignment was to cut 100 words out of magazines and glue them somehow onto a posterboard.  He chose to put them in the shape of “100″.

Here’s a picture showing their projects and other stuff celebrating 100 Day!

And here’s my Friday photo of myself, taken in a mirror…

Have a great weekend!

P365 Catch-Up and Sadie’s Party

Here is Day 18 of my P365:

I had just returned from driving into town from our weekend at the lake and from dropping the kids off at school.  These are the bags that we always use to cart our clothes and stuff back and forth from the lake.  I love these bags.  They’re nice and roomy, and I got them for about a dollar each at TJMaxx.

And, here’s Day 19:

This is one of my favorite photos from Sadie’s little birthday party last night. She’s saying her usual “cheese!”, and you can see a few of her presents in the photo — the “big-girl” panties her Aunt Shana and family gave her, the froggy potty I gave her, and the little kitchen that my parents gave her.  :)

We just had family over to celebrate her 2nd birthday.  She loved it and had a wonderful time!  Here are some more photos:

Wearing some silly glasses…

Her brother is singing “Happy Birthday” to her…

Ready for cake!!

Enjoying the cupcake with SisSis…

Opening presents…

New “big-girl” panties…

Modeling the “big-girl” panties…

Talking on the phone that came with her new kitchen…

Sadie’s party was a lot of fun!  Well, I’m off to go have cupcakes with her at her school!

Okay, just adding a few pics real quick from her little school celebration:

Blowing out the candle (so glad I got one of her blowing a candle out; last night, she had already blown it out before I could push the shutter button!)…

Mmm, yummy cupcakes…

She really…

…really…

…enjoyed them…yep!…

Have a great day!

Sadie is 2!!

My goodness, I have no idea how it’s happened, but my little baby girl is two years old today!  Anytime I hold her in my arms, I’m struck by how big she is and how it seems like just yesterday she was so tiny in my arms.

Two years ago plus a couple of days I was having terrible contractions.  I had my baby shower to go to on that Saturday, so I made it through that, but sat there the whole time feeling terrible because I was contracting so bad.  The contractions went away that Saturday night.  Then Sunday afternoon they started back up again.  By Sunday evening at dinner, I knew it was about time to go to the hospital.  No water breaking or anything.  But I told my husband that I thought we should probably go to the hospital after dinner.  There’s some priorities for you, huh?!?!

Actually our best friends were in town.  She was helping give my baby shower and ended up helping care for my kids that weekend while I was in bed with contractions.  We had our parents over to also visit with our friends, so I didn’t want to end that too early.

We went to the hospital, and sure enough, I was in labor.  This was the first time I’d ever gone into labor on my own (was induced with the previous 2), so I didn’t really know what to expect.  I think I got an epidural around 11 p.m. or midnight.  But things were progressing fairly slowly, so they gave me some pitocin.

I had Sadie at 8:26 a.m.  The doctor who delivered my other two babies was no where to be found, although he was supposed to be on duty that day.  We found out later that he had a stomach bug.  So a nurse midwife did the delivery and she was wonderful.

Here is our little Sadie at birth – 8.5 lbs.

Here I am with my THREE kiddos!

Here’s hubby with his THREE kiddos!

I love these of the older two checking out their brand-new baby sister:

And, I just have no words for how this absolutely melts my heart:

Lastly, here is 24 months of Sadie:

She brings so much joy to our family and we love her with all of our hearts!

Two Days of Sadie Posts

Don’t know if I might have mentioned it in my previous post, but my Sadie baby is turning two tomorrow.  So, I will definitely have a blog post all about Sadie.

But I’m also blogging about her today, because my P365 from yesterday needs the explanation…

I took Sadie back to the doctor yesterday.  She has had a cough off-and-on since Thanksgiving.  It has seemed to be at its worst during holidays, and therefore, we’ve seen on-call doctors Thanksgiving weekend and on Christmas Eve.  But we finally went back to her pediatrician to have her look into it.

Sadie is not coughing anything up (so, not pneumonia or anything), but she is coughing almost continuously throughout the night.  If you go in to give her medicine or rub some Vicks on her chest or whatever, she’s totally out of it.  So I know she’s sleeping, but she cannot be getting good sleep.  Plus, at our lake house, our room is directly behind hers, so we heard every. single. cough.

Her doctor thinks it may be either allergies or asthma.  Asthma is in the family a little, so that is a possibility.  Not sure which of the two would be worse.  So she’s now on some pretty intensive breathing treatments (photo above shows her doing her breathing treatment) and some chewable Singulair (which she really likes since it tastes like candy).  I’m really praying she is just quickly healed of all of this.  More important than anything, I just want my baby to be healthy; but these meds are also expensive.

Sadie actually slept well through most of the night last night (1st night on new meds), so that’s encouraging.  She woke up around 4:45 though and could not quit coughing.  So we’re all extremely tired today.

But she’s at school now, and very excited to be there.  And I’m about to run out to get some groceries and things to celebrate her birthday tomorrow!

Have a great day!

Family Time

Sunday morning we went to church.  Well, hubby and I went to church.  The kiddos were spending the night with their grandparents and playing with their cousins.  As much as they love to go to church, they really love staying with the grandparents and playing with their cousins.  And I have to admit, just getting the two of us ready for church (especially when we were coming from the lake) was so much easier than trying to get all five of us ready.

After church we had lunch at hubby’s parents’ house, then brought the kids home for all of us to nap.  After naps my sister and her family and my parents came up to visit.  We made some chicken in our smoker, added some au gratin potatoes (really fancy, ya know, out of a box), and some yummy salad my Mom brought — it was a great meal!  My sister also brought some delicious cheescake!

The kids had a great time playing together!  After dinner we all sat around inside and visited.  Sadie read a few books with her Uncle Jeff…

While we were visiting, Claire finally lost the tooth that has been threatening to fall out!  She was a little scared for it to be pulled, but it was definitely ready to come out, so hubby pulled it for her.  She was so excited!

Later we sat around with hubby telling the kids stories from his childhood.  All of us were highly entertained!

(nephews Jadon & Caleb)…

(my older two)…

(and my Mom)…

Don’t know if you noticed the adorable hat Claire was wearing in the “lost tooth” photo above.  My sister made it!!!  It is sooooo Claire!  It’s pink and has pink beads woven into it.  Needless to say, Claire absolutely loves it!  Here’s another look at it:

Cute, huh!?!?!?

Well, tomorrow is back-to-school for the kiddos! Good and bad…. good because I will get things done that are easier to get done when they are in school; bad because it’s harder getting them there when we’re coming from the lake (it’s worth it to stay another night, though!).

Then Wednesday is Sadie’s 2nd birthday!  OMGoodness, how has my baby grown up so fast!  I’ll have a whole post about her later, but thought I’d prepare you all for the fact that she’s having a birthday.  Did I mention she’s turning 2, and growing up way too fast?  Oh, yeah.  :)

Okay, I’m off ’til next time!
